Flare did not win the 2002 BLC World Series. It was not stolen in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the ninth. Gibson trotted around no bases, nor did Carter launch a walk off home run. Mazerowski beat no Yankees, nor did Larsen throw a perfect game. Instead, after 22 innings of play, on the 13th day of a well overdue tiebreaker, the Boston Red Sox accomplished the one run they needed to edge the Houston Astros, 6-5. With their private jet waiting, upon the not-so-grand finale of the BLC's first World Series, the Red Sox boarded the plane, only to get off as Rockies in their new home at Coors field.

Meanwhile, the Astros must return to their all-too-familiar home in Houston, downtrodden, yet likely just glad to have it over with after a record 22 innings of play. The former Red Sox have improved upon their hitting in this year's off-season, building an all star team of a lineup that even last year's World Series champion Sox would pee their pants at the prospect of playing.

The acquisition of Vladimir Guerrero has some teams asking, "How much is too much?" Den Danto held a press conference earlier today to respond to this, as well as a few other offhanded attacks on his system of management. "I would say that as long you['re] aggressive in a competition market, and knowing the sacrifices you have to make to succeed in this Sports World... It's all about knowing who you can get, and knowing the price it takes to get them. Getting the hitting has made me successful, but I had to suffer in the pitching aspects of the team. As far as money goes, teams should be using the money wisely, because in this league it is the survival of the fittest. The weakest can end up eliminated or even worse, fired from the league. You can only succeed in this league by playing smart, and knowing when to go after a player or when to let it go by."
